Monk66: Differing Ideas

For those of you, including Brother Norris, that don’t know what a thin client is - it’s basically a dumb terminal that gets all its screen updates from another computer (called a server). Everytime you press a key or move the mouse or click a button it is sent up to that server. The opposite of a thin-client is of course a fat-client which essentially describes a PC.

Working on Monk is great fun. One of the best things is introducing new characters. I was pondering over the weekend and decided to make the character in the above cartoon a more recurring character - hence she be known as Millie-May the Organ Grinder (because she plays the Abbey’s organ - oh how could you!?).

So far, we have

Monk

Brother Mouse Matt

Brother Norris

Wiley Worm

Millie-May the Organ Grinder

other characters that have appeared have included Brother Simon and Brother Malcolm. Watch this space for another new character coming soon!

Whilst searching around on the Internet for ways of improving Monk I found this fab cartoon called Octopus Pie, link here, by Meredith Gran. She also has a fantastic insight into how she draws her cartoon strip here. I also sent a communication to Matt Buck of ‘Hack’ fame with the hope of cajoling some advice from an unique and original cartooning veteran.
